It sometimes seems the worst sin in our generation is to deny that someone is beautiful, unique or special. It’s like we’re allergic to bad news about ourselves. Fortunately, God loves us enough to sometimes let us have the bad news: you’re wretched, miserable, blind, naked, poor, lazy, easily distracted, enemies of God, lost in sin, weak as flowers.
In other words: you’re in DESPERATE need of rescue.
The good news is that the bad news is often God’s way of dragging us away from: ‘I’m fine I don’t need you God’ to: ‘Help! I really need you God!’
That second prayer is God’s cue to scoop us up and embrace us in love.
