Two cattle ranch owners were speaking about their ranches. The first one admitted it was too expensive and tedious to put fencing around his massive property. The second ranch owner asked; ‘What about your cattle? Aren’t you worried that they will escape or move onto the next ranch?’
The first ranch owner replied; ‘No, I’m not worried. I make the watering holes on my property so attractive the cattle don’t want to leave.’
We can find ourselves in that story of freedom – especially now that holidays are about to begin. Following Jesus is not about being ‘fenced’ in.
In John 4v14 Jesus says: ‘Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. The water I give will become in them a spring of life.’
Jesus is like that watering hole. Is that something attractive to you?
