People sometimes see Christians as cheesy fakes with perma-grins. As in, ‘Jesus wants me for a sunbeam…’ Even if my folks are getting divorced or my brother has cancer or my girlfriend cheated.
Joy is supposed to happen to us when we become Christians (Galatians 5v22). Does that mean I have to be happy all the time? No.
I’m happy when life goes my way. Like, we win the game. The shoes are on sale. Happy! I’m joyful when – good times or bad – I can thank God for being perfect in love, power and wisdom, and for working all things together for my good and his glory.
Jesus never promised non-stop happiness. But he offers deep, abiding, supernatural joy. Talk to him about it today?
