If I’m thirsty at night I can walk straight to the kitchen, in the dark, for water. I can even keep my eyes shut. The passage from our bedroom to the kitchen is dead straight so there’s no guessing, Which way? No wandering or stumbling.
In a dark world with lots to trip us up, it helps to walk on flat straight paths that get us to where we’re going. The writer of Proverbs promises you: ‘I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.’ (Proverbs 4:11-12)
