I want joy! I want pleasure! Let’s be real – we are pleasure seekers It turns out true joy and pleasure is found in God: David knew that, so he wrote this:

‘Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days’ Psalm 90v14

What a great way to start the day being satisfied in God’s love. We were made to enjoy God. Believe it! draw close to Jesus and allow him to become your joy and delight.

‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm’ Psalm 20v7&8

Father, I am so easily tempted to depend on things I can see around me: my friends, my abilities, my money, my looks, you know what it is…

Help me to see these for what they are: good and created by you but ultimately useless at holding me together. Only you can do that. Your name – everything you are – is so much stronger, so much more reliable. You never let me down. I want to hold onto you with everything I’ve got today

What is freedom? What does it look and feel like?
‘Now the Lord is Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’ (2 Corinthians 3v17) That sounds so inviting. Wherever God is present, people find freedom! Freedom from caring what others think or say about us. Freedom from guilt and shame. Freedom from the need to worry. We really can trust God. We are the freedom generation (as Matt Redman sings) let’s ask the Spirit to be more present in our lives and to show us how to live freely! #WhoisGod?

‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God:… Through him all things were made… In him was life, and that life was the light of all humankind’ John 1v1-4

Imagine you are there with Jesus in the beginning as creation begins to unfold. Watch Jesus creating things as you would watch a painter with a canvas.

What does Jesus feel about the things he is creating? What does Jesus feel about you? How does it feel when Jesus looks at what he has created (including you) and says: ‘that is very good!’? (Genesis 1v31)
