Let’s be friends.

Read Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (

We are relational human beings and yet studies show that social media has made us antisocial and unrelatable. This could largely be because you can’t build genuine relationships based on fantasy or behind the phone. With our phones constantly in our hands we are building relationships with our phones rather than with people.

During this COVID-19 season we see how much we need one another and relationships are worth working on. God wants us to be surrounded by people and have relationship with each other. Especially in bad times when comfort from a friend will do.

“The Greatest Showman”

This movie gives us a strong Bible-based message. A desperate businessman brings a bunch of outcast people together to form a circus-like show.

This line from the movie shows that every life matters, “Our own mothers were ashamed of us and hid us our entire lives, you gave us a family.” It celebrates friendship with a special focus on love.

The core message is one for you and me, to love those who do not fit into society.

Maybe somebody is being bullied or mistreated – you and I can show the love of friendship to them (Matthew 22:39 –

Friends don’t have your back? You thought they were the kind you could rely on; you were counting on them coming through for you. The disappointment you may feel, even as you’re reading this. It’s hard. Maybe you need to be reminded that you are not alone in feeling this way and if you’re feeling friendless – we’d like to introduce you to a friend – His name is Jesus!

Proverbs 18:24 ( says, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin. But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Jesus will never let you down!

That friend.

Someone at school once said, “It’s hard to make friends but finding the right friend is even harder.” In a world of loneliness, we all long to belong and fit in. We are wired for relationship and friendship – so press pause to think about who your friends are right now. Do they encourage you, have your back, help you to grow?

Well the book of Proverbs does it again. Read Proverbs 12:26 ( – Let’s not just pray and ask God for friends, let’s ask Him to send us the right friends. AND let’s remember to be a good friend as well.
