Speak up.

Did you see the story about George Floyd in the US splashed across the news?
Do you find everyday stories/images around you that scream of injustice?

Read Proverbs 31:8-9 (

How about spending some time in prayer asking God to show you how and where you can speak up for the rights of those around you. It could be a younger kid at school, one with special needs or someone in your neighbourhood who is being ignored, bullied, or unfairly treated.

We get the privilege of speaking up (advocating) for one another, just as Jesus does for us before the Father!

Your Voice.

How should we respond to protests about injustice?

Proverbs 31:8-9 ( challenges us to stand up and show we care about injustice, by speaking against it. God calls us to use our voice to speak for those who have no voice. The well off can defend their own rights, but nobody listens to those without influence.

Saying Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter, it is simply speaking for those who are being treated unfairly by the system and whose voice is not being heard.

How will you speak up against injustice in your community?

Lord, help me to speak up for the change you want to see.

Ever feel like those in authority who are supposed to protect you have failed? You may have heard about the tragic fatal stabbing at a KZN school (and may want to pray for those involved). Seems no teachers attempted to intervene in the fight.

Ever wanted God to intervene more in our world and wondered why God seems not to? Here’s what it says in 2 Peter 3v9: ‘Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.’

Keep asking God to intervene – cos God does. And stay alert for ways God might be asking you to do the same!

2 Peter 3 here:

Does the amount of corruption in our country feel too big for someone like you to do anything about? Here’s a way to really make a difference:

‘The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Saviour God wants us to live.’ 1 Timothy 2v1-3 (

Let’s do that today: pray for our leaders to have integrity and act with justice. Pray that God will bring to repentance anyone who misuses public money, or abuses their power.

It’s corruption focus week. Like this FB page to make your voice heard:
