Bastille – Joy

http://bit.ly/2YW9TS8

Mental Health is spoken about a lot these days.
For many, it’s a real struggle. For others, they seem to have “jumped on the band wagon” and believe a lie about themselves.

But what I am hopeful about is that popular bands like Bastille are addressing the issue.

“Oh Joy, when you call me
I was giving up, oh, I was giving in
Joy, set my mind free
I was giving up, oh, I was giving in”

We can look at the dark and disappointing things. Or we can welcome in Joy.

Hold onto God’s joy. Focus on it. Live in it.

I love the Christmas song “Joy to the world, the Lord is come.

These words make me think of 1 Timothy 1:15 (http://bit.ly/2Qpydv2) which says, “Jesus came into the world.”

From these words we know that the Lord our Creator came to us and because of this we can be very happy. Before the Lord came to us, we did not know Him – that was a sad time. I know God because He came to and for me.

In this song we sing, “let earth receive her king

Have you accepted the Lord?
Welcome Jesus into your life today!

Growing Joy

,

People sometimes see Christians as cheesy fakes with perma-grins. As in, ‘Jesus wants me for a sunbeam…’ Even if my folks are getting divorced or my brother has cancer or my girlfriend cheated.

Joy is supposed to happen to us when we become Christians (Galatians 5v22). Does that mean I have to be happy all the time?
No.

I’m happy when life goes my way. Like, we win the game. The shoes are on sale. Happy!
I’m joyful when – good times or bad – I can thank God for being perfect in love, power and wisdom, and for working all things together for my good and his glory.

Jesus never promised non-stop happiness. But he offers deep, abiding, supernatural joy. Talk to him about it today?
