Read Romans 10:5-9 (http://bit.ly/2GxFANf)

Today it can be so hard to trust things – tv adverts, politicians and even what people say. Promises get made and broken without a second thought. However with God this is different, He is faithful to His promises. Verse 9 tells us that if we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord we will be saved.

Knowing that Jesus is Lord can be hard, but we must remember it and trust Him in the toughest situations. Real faith is trusting God when it is the hardest. How will you trust that Jesus is Lord in 2019?

Read Romans 10:2-4 (http://bit.ly/2GwsFuY)

We live in a world where everybody wants to call the shots, be the boss and have the money. When it comes to our faith it does not work that way.

In verses 2-4 we see the Jewish people wanting to follow God but they do not know God’s way to follow God, instead, they do it their own way. We are reminded that Jesus ended the law and that we are only made right when we believe in Him. This is God’s term for salvation.

This is Good News! For 2019 how can you live knowing this Good News and sharing it with others?

Read Romans 10:1 (http://bit.ly/2GxLrCn)

Have you ever made a new year’s resolution? For 2019 I am making a commitment to contagious faith. Over the next five days we will journey together through Romans 1 and you too, might choose to make a similar commitment.

In verse 1 we see Paul praying that the Jews would be saved. How often do you pray for people to be saved? I hope my faith might rub off on others but I rarely pray for those people to know Jesus personally.

Perhaps make a list of three names who you want to come to know Jesus, set a reminder on your phone and commit to praying for them daily this year.

Is there something you have seen or heard someone do (maybe you are that someone) and you thought to yourself, “oh my word, that person should never get away with that! I hope punishment rains down on them.”? Truth is we all deserve punishment to rain down on us. We were all born bad, sin made us bad.

BUT let’s read what Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:1-10 (http://bit.ly/2zIf7JB)

Instead of punishment and death raining down – undeserved mercy, kindness, love, grace (favour), salvation rained down. We went from bad to good. And not because of anything we could ever do, but because of EVERYTHING Jesus did.
