Do you struggle with hating yourself or feeling lonely or hopeless? Here’s more good stuff from Isaiah’s prophecy about Jesus in chapter 9:

‘For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.’ (Isaiah 9v4)

God hates it when we carry things that weigh us down. What does God do about it? He sends Jesus who is the chief burden-bearer:

‘Are you weary and weighed down by something? Come to me and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11v28-30).

Let the carols you sing this Christmas be freedom-songs. Whose burdens could you help carry by being a friend these holidays?

Adopted Into Royalty

Here’s something to blow your mind. You are royal. That’s right. Royalty.

Because when the King of the universe saved you by his grace he adopted you – called you daughter or son. But like me, you forget, don’t you? And you live like you still belong in the gutters. You forget that you’re already holy and blameless because you’re forgiven and made new and clothed in righteousness and you have the power that grace gives you to choose right.

Remember today: You are far, far more than you seem. ‘For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.’ (Philippians 2v13, NLT)

God Loves You – Without The Make-Up

Lots of things going around recently about selfies (with or without makeup). Seems that Facebook / Twitter / Snapchat / Instagram etc are often places to post just the good bits about our lives. Sometimes stories with lots of makeup on right?

Thing is – it can be hard to read all that sparkling stuff from others while comparing it to the ugly stuff we know about ourselves. ‘Nomakeup’ Facebook posts anyone?

Good news! One of the Holy Spirit’s jobs is to search us deeply and celebrate what the Spirit finds in us with the Father and Jesus. The Spirit also gets to work on healing the hurt and clearing out the junk.

No makeup required for God to delight in who you are and do what it takes to make you whole again.

What do you sound like / smell like / look like in the morning? Do you like what you hear, smell or see? Often I don’t. Despite the level of vulnerability required, thousands of woman around the world have come out in support of the #nomakeupselfie campaign and posted a selfie (without make-up) on social media, challenging their friends to do it too.

Jesus knows us as we really are and invites us to bare all to him, and experience his unreserved love and acceptance! Is there any ‘spiritual make-up’ you need to take off to give yourself(ie) to him again? Read Hebrews 4:16 here
