Giving into temptation doesn’t usually start with an action, it starts with a casual thought or a quick glance at an image or something right? Often the temptation grabs hold of us because we take a second look or decide to let that thought settle in and take over.

Proverbs 4:25 says, ‘Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.’

If you know you are in danger of giving into temptation that will draw you away from God, practise keeping yourself away from places where that temptation is in plain sight. Let your eyes or thoughts rest on other things.

God’s CV

This week we’re taking a look back at last year through some posts out of Small Spaces – theWordspace’s guilt-free devotional. If you’re interested in grabbing a copy or supporting tWS, give us a shout 🙂

Here’s today’s post:

Does God have a CV? If the God you know were applying for the ‘job’ to be in charge of your life, would you let Him?

Here’s Isaiah 40v28-31: ‘The Lord is the everlasting God; the creator of the ends of the earth; He will not grow tired; His understanding no-one can fathom; He gives strength; those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength’

That’s just part of God’s CV: He never tires. He gives us strength. He is bigger that our understanding. I would trust that. How about you?

We use common things every day. Maybe those things could help us figure out some stuff about following God? Starting with my bowl of cereal and cup of coffee. Just as breakfast strengthens us for each day we are reminded of the verse in Philippians 4v13:’I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’

A guy named Richard Foster prayed this prayer holding a cup of coffee: ‘I blow on the coffee and drink. O Spirit of God, blow across my little life and let me drink in your great Life.’

Have a good day, find strength in God for whatever lies ahead!
