#designedtoconquer

A small group of us in Matric conducted a social experiment. We chose a perfectly healthy Grade 8 boy and would, over a good few days, ask him: “Are you feeling ok? You look sick.” He was absent the next week

“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking,” [MSG] “but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” [NIV] (Romans 12:2).

The Devil wants to neutralise and weaken your character by getting into and infecting your head. Think about what you think about.

Jesus designed you to be “more than a conqueror” (Romans 8:37). Who will you believe?

Talk to God

How do we get to know God?

We spend time with Him. One part of this is talking to God – praying. Praying to Him when you are eating your breakfast, talking to Him on your way to class, even talking to Him in class! Because He hears even your thoughts! A love relationship is not just checking in once a day.

Speak to God. He is listening.

1 Peter 3:12 says: “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (http://bit.ly/37cDY3Z)

Where’s your mind at?

Paul wrote to the Philippians, ‘Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.’ (Philippians 4:8 – http://bit.ly/2LPgU50)

To be joy-filled Jesus-followers, we need to engage our brains, not just our feelings. We need to remind our brains to fix our thoughts on all things worthy and worthwhile.

What food are you offering to your thoughts?
Are you feasting on what’s wholesome, or are you surviving on the superficial pickings of social media feeds?
Why not fatten your focus and your feelings on some rich, delicious truth today?
