Read the Bible

Reading the Bible – God’s Word – is key to get to know Him: God the Father, Jesus the son of God, and the Holy Spirit.

Here are a few scriptures that speak about who God is:

Psalm 46:1(https://bit.ly/3ynCZeP)
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

1 Timothy 1:17(https://bit.ly/3jBw0Lr)
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Isaiah 9:6(https://bit.ly/36fGTdG)
“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

His Word.

Feelings are fleeting but faith stands true. What do I mean by this?
Feelings come and go – even within one day we can experience a number of different emotions. One day we might feel like God is far, the next He feels close.

But here’s the thing: feelings aren’t very reliable. Our faith in God, in His promises and who He is – now that’s reliable. That’s what we rely on when times are hard.

Spending time in His word, relying on the truth we find there can boost our faith and help us get through tough days. Our feelings aren’t trustworthy, but our God is.

WORD

How does God speak?
Over the next few Mondays, the acronym WORDS will show us how God speaks to us.

Firstly, God inspired the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16 – https://bit.ly/3aODSnM) and speaks to you through His WORD. In Nehemiah 8:14-15 (https://bit.ly/3aNHWoo), God shows them what He wants them to do. And they do it. As you read and reflect on the Bible, you will see what God’s will for your life is and how He wants you to live.

What can you do when reading the Bible to help you hear what God is saying?
Lord, help me hear what you are saying to me as I read the Bible.

Seek

We need to be active in getting to know God. We need to purposefully spend time with Him, read His word, pray and ask mature believers in our lives to teach us about God. We need to seek Him. When we do, we’ll find Him!

God says in Jeremiah 29:13-14, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and places to which I have banished you, declares the LORD”http://bit.ly/2u4yBFU

Keep seeking Him, because you WILL find Him!
